The Problem

Channel conflicts, unit cost, freight and tariff increases, Oversize products and low Amazon revenues created many issues that had to be solved for growth to take place.

There was no shortage of hurdles that had to be overcome, but our client had demonstrated, through 20+ years of building and selling furniture that they had the product under control and were capable of winning on Amazon with the right Amazon strategy in place that didn't cannibalize other sales channels.


They were expecting a buyer to come and save them but were doing less than $500K/year and were a far cry from the $10MM/year requirement for an active Amazon buyer.


They were lacking staff with deep understanding of the Amazon platform, optimal logistics setup, and how to grow traffic and sales on the platform.

The Work

For Amazon to grow, we had to shut down existing resellers and grow unique direct offers. Short term this meant total sales would drop, the leadership team needed convincing.

  • Focus on Profit - Nearly all SKUs were oversized, and many not UPS-able. Logistics costs were a major pain point for client and Amazon. Focusing everything on addressing this issue opened all the doors to growth.


  • Optimize Catalog - focused on listing optimization to increase search rank, product content, and built brand stores for the 4 brands under management.


  • Remove Channel Conflicts - Isolate products to focus on at Amazon and secure inventory and pricing stability. Remove dealers that were poaching demand and not doing anything to create it.


  • Set Foundation to Scale - We had to stabilize this business before we could start investing in growth with Sponsored Ads.
